Definition

Immunity is defined as the ability of the body to defence against pathogens .

# Immunity is a biological term that describes a state of having sufficient biological defence to avoid infection disease or other unwanted invasions.

# Immunity involves both specific and non- specific components.

3. General health

4. Environment influence

5. Nutritional factor

6. Vaccination



Classification of Immunity

Innate immunity:-

# also called as non-specific immune system.

# it is the resistance which individual causes by birth.


Types of Innate Immunity

1. Species immunity

2. Racial Immunity

3. Individual immunity

Functions of Innate Immunity

* Killing invading microbes

* To fight disease causing germs

* Help in the process of tissue repair

2. Acquired Immunity/ Adaptive

* Also called as adaptive immunity

* The resistance acquired by an individual during life time.

* Acquired immunity is immunity one developes over lifetime,it can come from vaccine.
